Illegal dispensary was preparing over $4.8M in illegal cannabis flower for unlicensed distribution.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY — To continue the disruption of illicit cannabis sales in California while protecting cannabis consumers, the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) shut down an unlicensed cannabis retailer in Monrovia that was preparing to ship over 2,900 pounds of illegal cannabis flower.
The enforcement action, led by DCC’s Law Enforcement Division (LED) with the assistance of the Los Angeles and Monrovia Police Departments, took place last week. During the operation enforcement officials discovered evidence of possible human trafficking and are conducting further investigation into this matter.
“The Department remains focused on disrupting the illicit cannabis market and protecting the public,” said DCC’s Deputy Chief of Law Enforcement, Charles Smith. These operations reflect the power of our collaboration with our local law enforcement partners and highlight that the outcome of these efforts touches every level of the unlicensed supply chain.”
Additional highlights from the enforcement action include the seizure of:
- 114 pounds of illegal cannabis edibles
- 83 pounds of illegal cannabis concentrate
- 76 pounds of illegal cannabis vape cartridges
- $14,458 in cash
